Kentucky Downs And Encore Announce Expansion Agreement Following Record Setting February

Franklin, KY – Kentucky Downs and Encore Racing Based Games (RBG) today announced an agreement to add 143 additional Encore Historic Horse Racing terminals at the Franklin, Kentucky racetrack. The expansion will take the total machine count at Kentucky Downs to 643 Encore terminals.

The expansion agreement comes on the heels of a record setting February, which saw Kentucky Downs break their single month handle and attendance records. The $37,743,705 wagered on the Encore Historic Horse Racing system and games set a new one-month HHR handle record, besting the previous handle record by almost $3 million. Overall handle was up an incredible $8.58 million compared to last February. The wide variety of Encore game titles and significant jackpots awarded to Kentucky Downs customers continued to drive attendance in February, as the track once again set a one-month attendance record with 32,288 customers attending during the month.

“Encore has been a tremendous partner,” commented Kentucky Downs Senior Vice President Ted Nicholson.

“From the very beginning, they have worked closely with us to identify the wants and needs of our customers, and diligently created exciting game content that our players truly love. With yet another record-breaking month in the books, it is obvious that our customer base continues to grow, and that our current patrons are extremely happy with the historic horse racing products we are offering. We are very excited to expand our operation by adding additional Encore terminals, and we are confident that Kentucky Downs will set new handle and attendance records in the months to come.”

“We are grateful that the Court dismissed all of RaceTech’s patent infringement claims,” commented Encore President Jeremy Stein.

“Encore was founded to be the clear cut industry leader in historic horse racing systems and games. We took great care to ensure that not only was our technology state of the art, but that our unique and innovative system was built to comply with all legal requirements. With this ruling behind us, Encore will continue to be the horse racing industry’s next-generation historic horse racing provider of choice.”
