Franklin, KY – Kentucky Downs and Exacta Systems enjoyed another record breaking month in August, as pari-mutuel wagering on Historic Horse Racing topped $40.7 million. August was the second straight month that wagering handle at Kentucky Downs eclipsed the $40 million mark, coming on the heels of the $40.5 million wagered in July. In addition to the new one-month handle record, the $3.5 million wagered on August 27 smashed the previous single-day wagering record of $2.8 million.
“Every month, new Historic Horse Racing wagering records are being set at Kentucky Downs,” commented Exacta Systems President Jeremy Stein.
“With over $300 million wagered at Kentucky Downs through August, it is realistic to expect that total Historic Horse Racing handle will approach half a billion dollars at the track this year. It is clear that Historic Horse Racing continues to provide a much needed revenue source to the industry, and is helping support the record purses and high quality racing that we saw on opening day at Kentucky Downs. Exacta Systems is firmly committed to the future of racing, and we believe that Historic Horse Racing can play a significant role in improving the economics for owners, breeders and racetrack operators.”
